This project expanded the existing University Health System (UHS) campus in the South Texas Medical Center, to a 1.1-million SF area, 14-story, 713-bed facility. A new trauma tower with an expanded emergency center and surgical capacity was built beneath new inpatient rooms. ** This project is seeking Gold LEED Certification.
This state-of-the-art hospital facility includes:
- Expanded Emergency Center (84 beds)
- Two floors of surgical suites (35 total operating rooms)
- 420 new private inpatient hospital rooms some with private courtyards and the capability to be converted to suites (for a total of 716 rooms)
- Convenient room service for patient meals
