IES Supports ACE Mentoring

Intelligent Engineering Services employees participated in the 2nd annual ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program – 2015 Bowling Tournament in February.

IES employees, Scott Lefton and Matthew Homer, volunteer their time at local high schools as ACE mentors. The ACE Mentoring Program provides high school students exposure to Architecture, professional Construction management, and Engineering: the three main disciplines in the US’s second largest industry. Diverse teams of mentors from each of the ACE disciplines hold biweekly meetings at five participating high schools to assist interested students with the planning, design, budgeting, and scheduling of a current City of San Antonio bond project.

Past projects have included the Hemisfair Park redevelopment, development of a downtown grocery store, and neighborhood libraries, parks and fire stations. The year culminates with the students presenting their projects to industry professionals for criticism and advice.

Team members Donald Dacus, Matthew Homer, Agustin Tellez, Joe Huizar, and Justice Edge (Left to Right) rolled into a fifth place finish.
