Structural Project Manager (McAllen, Texas)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team that may include an assistant project manager, one or more project engineers, and one or more revit modelers.
  • Manage multiple and concurrent projects.  Projects may be in different phases of design and construction.
  • Strive to achieve monthly invoicing goals.
  • Structural analysis and design.
  • Vast knowledge of construction documents of all disciplines.
  • Vast knowledge of structural systems and construction methods.
  • Producing exceptional framing plans and project specific details.  Extensive knowledge of editing master structural notes, special inspection tables, and specification sections for project specific requirements
  • Work with Team Leader and other staff to develop construction documents.
  • Review analysis and design of other project team members and be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of that work.
  • Review drawings and details of other project team members and be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of that work.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with clients.
  • Coordinate drawings with other design team disciplines.
  • Oversee drafting personnel during production of project drawings.
  • Perform construction administration after construction document phase of project consisting of field observations, review of shop drawings, responding to RFI’s and creating ASI’s and PR’s as required.
  • Utilize IES standards in design and detailing projects.
  • Foster a positive work environment within the engineering department, production department, and overall office.
  • Maintains client satisfaction in the coordination of project work.
  • Assists contractors in their successful construction of the intent of our contract documents.
  • Respond timely to RFIs and reviews shop drawings in the timeframe allotted.
  • Meet project deadlines and task deadlines necessary to achieve those project deadlines.
  • Contributes to overtime efforts of their team.
  • Reviews timesheets of team members to ascertain where time is being spent so as to help the team members focus on areas where the work can be done more efficiently.
  • Builds a sense of teamwork within their team and overall satisfaction with the results of their work effort.
  • Participate in weekly production projection meetings and biweekly project manager meetings.
  • Be familiar with the efforts of the Technology and Engineering Standards Committee and Production Standards committee, contribute input to those efforts, and ensure time is made for the project engineers to make progress on TESC or PSC tasks each month.
  • Participates in the training of Project Engineer I, Project Engineer II, Project Engineer III, and assistant Project Manager staff.
  • Works toward self-improvement and improvement of management, communication, engineering, framing, and detailing skills
  • Create and maintain client relationships that will result in additional work from those clients and create work from new clients due to references from existing clients.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Team Leader, Partner/Engineering Department Manager, or Managing Partner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelors of science in Civil Engineering (structural) or Architectural Engineering
  • Licensed as a Texas Professional Engineer or able to obtain such licensure by comity from another state.
  • 6 years experience as a project engineer.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering (structural) or Architectural Engineering – preferred.
  • Project Manager experience – preferred.

 

Structural Project Engineer (San Antonio, Texas)

Responsibilities

  • Structural analysis and design.
  • Capable of comprehending construction documents of all disciplines.
  • Considerable knowledge of structural systems and construction methods.
  • Capable of producing framing plans, producing project specific details, edit master structural notes, special inspection tables, and specification sections for project specific requirements.
  • Work with Team Leader, Project Manager, other Project Engineers, Revit Modelers, and other staff to develop construction documents.
  • Attend meetings with clients as required.
  • Coordinate drawings with other design team disciplines.
  • Oversee drafting personnel during production of project drawings.
  • Perform construction administration after construction document phase of project consisting of field observations, review of shop drawings, responding to RFI’s and creating ASI’s and PR’s as required.
  • Become familiar with IES standards and use them in design and detailing projects.
  • Foster a positive work environment within the engineering department, production department, and overall office.
  • Maintains client satisfaction in the coordination of project work.

  • Motivated and works toward self-improvement and improvement of communication, engineering, framing, and detailing skills
  • Minimal travel is required to attend meetings, visit project sites, or other business-related functions as part of your job duties.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering with the area of focus in structural engineering
  • Ability to become certified as an EIT in the state of Texas within 6 months
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well with supervisors, other staff, and clients

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering with the area of focus in structural engineering
  • 2 to 3 years past experience in structural engineering as it relates to building design
  • Experience with Revit
  • Experience with RISA 3D and Ram Structural Systems
  • EIT certification
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
