2016 National Engineers Week is Here!

Civil Engineer At Construction Site

In honor of National Engineers Week, which begins on Tuesday, February 23st, the Bexar County Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) has lined up a number of great programs and events. National Engineers Week celebrates and promotes the engineering profession, and once again, Intelligent Engineering Services (IES) will be actively participating. The week is a big deal for engineers locally and all across the country. It gives us all a chance to come together as engineers and share with our community the pride we take in our work and profession.

National Engineers Week begins on Tuesday with a big “Proclamation Breakfast.” The engineers of IES are always proud to attend this breakfast, where we join in recognizing the “Young Engineer of the Year” and welcome the Engineer-for-a-Day students from local high schools. The next day, an IES team participates in the Sporting Clay Tournament, which is followed by a Scholarship Social, hosted by the Structural Engineers Association of Texas (SEAoT), that benefits a local senior level engineering student focusing on structural engineering. On Thursday, IES joins other engineers at a luncheon honoring the past presidents of the TSPE Bexar chapter. Then on Friday, IES hits the links for a golf tournament at Canyon Springs – a great way to end the week! National Engineers Week wraps up on Saturday morning with a 5K run at Lady Bird Johnson Park, and after that, it’s time to rest up and dress up for the Engineer of the Year Banquet and Casino Night.

National Engineers Week is a busy one, with lots of networking, but it’s also about supporting good causes, like engineering students and the local Bexar Chapter of the TSPE, which advocates for all San Antonio Area licensed Professional Engineers. IES is a proud participant, and if you’re interested in joining us, just go to http://www.bexartspe.org/content/index.php/engineers-week.
